An Angel on the Front Page
Yes, we have slipped again...it has been awhile since we posted...I will try to do better and hope that some other angels will help me out!
Tonight I have 2 things I want to post about one leads to the other!
First off one of our Angels or rather 2 were featured on the front page treasury on Monday...Sissy Soaps that is a sister team...Maranda from Marandas cards and Michelle of Silkcreekgallery!
Michelle's shop features her jewelry and some of her husband's wrought iron work:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=17694
Maranda makes beautiful cards:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5064214
and their sister shop makes beautiful soaps and gift baskets:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5064214
While checking out some of the gadgets on Etsy I came across this one:
http://www.craftcult.com/vault.php?userid=&name=&pagenum=1&fm=&esn=&m=8&d=&st=1&ls=4490
And from it I was able to do this:
I am so proud of myself to figure this out...lol...it does not take much does it but then I am not very computer smart!
Way to go Girls for a beautiful front page feature and for a successful shop!

Etsy Angels support the American Heart Association during the month of May
Why support the American Heart Association?
*Coronary heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the U.S.
*Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the U.S.
*Every 34 seconds a woman dies from heart disease
Pretty startling statistics. I hope that everyone takes the time to visit the American Heart Association website to learn more about the risk factors and symptoms of heart attack, which vary somewhat for women. It could save your life or the life of someone you love.
Instead of telling you more about the American Heart Association, which I hope everyone is already familiar with. I'd like to share my personal reasons for supporting the American Heart Association.
I was 15 years old and visiting my Grandma in the hospital. She was in the intensive care unit. At first they thought she had a severe case of the flu. My mom and I were visiting with my Grandma one minute and the next minute....
The heart monitor dropped to 7 beats per minute, the jagged line went flat, the alarm went off. Doctors and nurses rushed in with the crash cart just like you see on tv. They were able to revive her and put in a temporary pace maker, but she worsened the next couple of days and passed away. That was more than 25 years ago and I can still picture it in my head like it was yesterday.
At the time I was young and healthy. I didn't think much about heart health. It was an old people thing. That all changed when I became a mother. My 7 month old baby girl needed to have a Patent Ductus Arterious (PDA) repair. Her little lungs were congested with the backed up blood. Her fingernails had a bluish tint to them because the blood was not making its way to the very tips of her little fingers. Her heart was enlarged because it was working so much harder to try to keep the blood pumped through her body.

My daughter a few days after heart surgery.
Surgery went well. Immediately blood flow was back to normal, and within a short time her lungs cleared up and within a year or so her heart was back to normal size. Due to advances in medical treatment they were able to repair her heart through an incision between her ribs instead of going through her chest.

My daughter after she was home from the hospital.
Today she is a perfectly healthy young woman who is going to be a mother herself. She is my personal poster child for supporting heart health.

A recent photo of my daughter with my youngest son.
Participating Etsy Angel shops will be donating a percentage of their May sales to the American Heart Association. Please check out the Etsy forum thread for a list of participating shops.
