Angel's BNR For Joey's Eagles A Success!

Last nights BNR for Joey's Eagles, hosted by the Etsy Angels, was a resounding success! Everyone had a wonderful evening laughing, supporting each other, and watching those sales add up! There were a total of 42 sales for the Angel's January charity. Dollar amount is unknown at the moment but will be pulled together soon and posted here.

The charity fundraiser will continue through the end of January so if you were unable to take part in the BNR you can STILL shop at any of the Angel's stores listed below and help the Angel's make a difference in a child's life.

The Etsy Angel's are hosting a BNR for Joey's Eagles tomorrow, January 17th starting at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time and running until 11:00 p.m. Join the Team as they raise as much money as possible for Joey's Eagles, a non profit organization that helps families that have children with cancer. It will be a fun time for everyone! Make a purchase from one of the shops listed in the special Treasury and have one of your own items replace it in the treasury. It's a way to help a group that really needs help and market your own item/store at the same time.

January Charity BNR for Joey's Eagles...

On January 17th the Etsy Angels will be hosting a BNR (Buy and Replace) for Joey's Eagles. Our last BNR was fantastic and we are hoping to surpass our 50 sales from that one! All the Angels that will be participating will also be donating a percentage of their sales . As soon as we have a listing of those Angel's participating we'll be posting it here on our Blog as well as the time.

Join us in the fun and help us raise money for this wonderful organization that helps families that have children stricken with Cancer. If your an Etsy seller, and have never taken part in a BNR, here is your chance to not only "learn the ropes" but to help us raise money for Joey's Eagles. It's a fast-paced, fun event that can really get your store "seen" by many. You purchase an item from one (or more) of the participating shops shown in the Treasury and then you get to pick one (or more) of your own products to replace the shop you purchased from! That's it, very quick, very simple and a great marketing tool.

Angel's January Fundraiser ~Joey's Eagles

It's almost January and the Etsy Angel's are starting off our New Year right with our first fundraiser. Yes, the Angel's are ready and eager to get 2012 on the road and make this year our BEST year ever!

The Angel's take turns choosing a charity for the Team to raise money for and January's choice comes from CrochetbyMSA, MaryAnn. That charity is Joey's Eagles (read more about Joey's Eagles by clicking on their name). A non-profit organization that reaches out and helps families with children and young adults with cancer or other serious chronic illnesses. This organization was started in memory of Joesph Grampp in 1996. Here is a little about Joey's Eagles....

"Through donations made to us, we have been able to provide financial support for families in times of crisis and provide events throughout the year that have brought great joy to everyone.

Our goal is to provide a positive self-esteem for these children and also give ongoing support to their parents. We meet throughout the year, where we have shared parental support sessions and planned group activities.

We have, through donations made by people like you and through organizations, been able to help families during very difficult times.

Our long range goal is to be able to open a facility that children can attend while undergoing chemotherapy and many other treatments that keep them from attending school."

We will be having a BNR at a later date during the month for some "fun" but all participating Angel shops have their donation intentions listed below. Please, shop with any of the Etsy Angel's on this list all throughout January and help us raise funds for this beautiful organization!

A Look Back, In The Rearview Mirror, At 2011....

Today the Angel's are taking a final look back at 2011. The Team suffered some losses this year of family members, sickness and for a while we seemed to drift apart. SewingGranny, Mona as our Team Leader was always there trying to pull the team back together. Mona often reminds me of the hens and chicks we use to raise on the farm when I was growing up. She was always reaching out and pulling us "chicks" back under her wings keeping us safe and keeping us close. Thank you Mona.....for your time, talents and caring in holding it all together. At her side was ChloeBoutique, Amanda as her helper. Amanda is one busy gal but was always there when we needed her. This Team would be nothing without the 2 of you.

But, as we do look back we see 1 more charity in our "rearview" mirror and that is our Breast Cancer charity that takes place each October. We use to choose just one to raise money for but this year the Angels each chose their own breast cancer non-profit and donated to them. Here are the charities that benefited from our October fundraiser:

* The Canadian Cancer Society, Prince Edward Island, Canada (donations were designated for Breast Cancer Programs)

* The American Breast Cancer Foundation

* Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

* Avon Walk-Sole Ryders group

* Pink Ribbon Foundation-Colorado

* Access Life Services-Abundant Life Ministries (for breast cancer programs)

A TOTAL of $553.47 was raised. Our largest breast cancer event in our history! The Angels held a BNR and promoted through each of the participating stores, Twitter, FaceBook, Pintrest and Stumble Upon. The girls that took part really stepped up and did a great job. Thank you all!

So, as 2011 comes to a close instead of feeling sad about it being over we are already looking forward to our next charity event, Joey's Eagles. We will be raising money all through January for this very worthy cause. Watch for more information on Joey's Eagles in the next few days and find out how you can help us help them.....because as Etsy Angel's that's what we do!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year From The Etsy Angels! Part 2

The Angels are continuing their look "back" on 2011 and remembering the charities we had fundraisers for. That is what we are all about. Raising money for worthy organizations that need help. We don't always raise funds for the "big and known" non-profits some are small, just starting out and struggling. One such fundraiser was.....

LFMB ~ Love For Malacia Babies ~ $236.00

Can you possibly imagine having a baby and knowing something is wrong and no one seems to know what? That is sometimes what it is like when you have a baby with Malacia. Malacia is described as: "Airways carry air from the nose to the lungs. Some children are born with airways that are too soft. Soft airways do not hold their shape, and air does not flow through as well as it should. There are three places where airways can be soft: the voice box, the windpipe, and the breathing tubes. A person may have softening in one, two or three parts of the airway. This softening is called Malacia."

From the founder of LFMB, LeeAnna, "Almost 2 years ago we created a support group on Facebook, while we were living in the hospital with our youngest son. The group has been such a great support for over 200 people. With the support group we have reached 3 different country's and just about every state in the United States. With so little support found elsewhere we decided to take it a step further. In March of 2011 "Love For Malacia Babies" received their EIN and prepared to file for non profit status. LFMB will one day be able to help families who have Malacia babies. There are so many things we would love to be able to do."

The funds we raised for LFMB enabled the organization to mail out the "Nap Nannies" which were donated by Nap Nanny. A Nap Nanny is a seat of sorts that keeps a baby not only safe but in the perfect position to breath easier....something these Malacia babies need. They went to 3 countries and in various states in the U.S.

Seems every year this time the Angels stop, turn around and wonder where the year went! We all seem to get SO busy this time of year with our shops, creating Christmas gifts for family and friends, keeping all those wonderful holiday traditions.....and then one day we take a deep breath and look "backwards" at what we accomplished this past year.

ORVAL, (Ouachita River Valley Animal League) ~ $336.50

The organization began in 1995 with the promise of trying to make the local shelter a better place by reducing the number of pets euthanized and by giving them resources and products to make the pets more comfortable during their limited time at the shelter. ORVAL quickly realized that a lot of animals were being surrendered because their owners could not afford vet bills. ORVAL then decided to add Vet Assistance to the list of services. Along with vet assistance, ORVAL also has a foster program to try to give pets, from the shelter, a longer and better chance of getting adopted.

Jefferson County Victim Assistance and Annual Courage Walk ~ $195.00

The Annual Courage Walk is a time to honor the strength and courage of survivors. This is also a time to speak out in unison for crime victims' rights and services today and in the future. We are constantly amazed at the resiliency survivors of crime show as they fight to reclaim their lives and recover from criminal acts.
Proceeds will be used for costs associated with training of volunteers, printing educational materials for crime victims and for maintenance of the The Courage Garden. The Courage Garden is located behind the Jefferson County Courts and Administration Building at 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden, Colorado. Dedicated to crime victims and designated for commemorative plantings, The Courage Garden is also a place of respite for those involved in court cases.

The Etsy Angels have worked hard all year raising funds for different charities. The last event was for Breast Cancer Awareness and we raised a total of $553.57!!

January will be another month of fundraising for joeyseagles.org/wordpress/ so you won't want to miss that. Watch for more information on Joeys Eagles in the upcoming weeks.

This month the Angels are having some much deserved fun time... We are doing our Secret Santa Angel exchange again this year. This is such a fun time for us, we each get an Angel to play "Secret Santa" to. We create a beautiful gift for them and mail it out. Then we get together and "unwrap" our gift, find out who our Secret Santa is and post pics of our gift! Something we look forward to each Christmas.

And Tuesday November 22nd from 4 pm - 11pm we are having a special Holiday BNR!! We will be posting the link to the BNR just before it opens up. Join us, pick up some gifts for those very special people on your list and support handmade too. Wow, what a fundraiser! The Etsy Angels wanted to take this moment to thank you all that supported our efforts to raise money for breast cancer awareness this past month. We had our BEST event ever!

The Angels raised $553.47.....totally awesome, we are SO happy and proud!

16 Angels took part in the October fundraiser along with 2 "Angel Helpers" that joined up with us to help fundraise. We had 2 Think Pink BNR's and each shop, all month long, donated a percentage of their sales. Each Angel was able to choose her own breast cancer awareness non-profit this month. The following organizations were chosen and donations were sent to:

* The Canadian Cancer Society, Prince Edward Island, Canada (donations were designated for Breast Cancer Programs)

* The American Breast Cancer Foundation

* Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

* Avon Walk-Sole Ryders group

* Pink Ribbon Foundation-Colorado

* Access Life Services-Abundant Life Ministries (for breast cancer programs)

It was an exciting month for us, a lot of work but it was all worth it in the end. We also want to thank the Angel helpers that joined us this month to add their donations to our total and support their favorite Breast Cancer Awareness charities. Thank you all!

The Angels are now gearing up for the holiday shopping rush and will be taking some time to have some fun together as a team this month. Plus, our Secret Santa event is ready to kick off and we ALL look forward to that! GREAT JOB ANGELS, GREAT JOB!

The Angels are getting some much needed rest after last months charity event for Breast Cancer Awareness. Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraising Event Continues...

The Etsy Angels Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser continues for another 5 days. The Angels have worked tirelessly all month and we know we have surpassed last years fundraising event! We don't know the total yet but we are all so anxious to tally it up! There is still plenty of time to stop and shop with the Etsy Angels as we finish up our month long fundraiser for Breast Cancer.

Please take a few moments to read the information posted here and remember "the best protection is early detection"! Thank you all for your continued support of the Angels and ALL our fundraising efforts. We're trying to make the world a little bit better....one fundraiser at a time....

1. Know your risk

Talk to your family to learn about your family health history
Talk to your health care provider about your personal risk of breast cancer

2. Get screened

Ask your health care provider which screening tests are right for you if you are at higher risk
Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk
Have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years starting at age 20, and every year starting at age 40

3. Know what is normal for you and see your health care provider if you notice any of these breast changes:

Lump, hard knot or thickening inside the breast or underarm area
Swelling, warmth, redness or darkening of the breast
Change in the size or shape of the breast
Dimpling or puckering of the skin
Itchy, scaly sore or rash on the nipple
Pulling in of your nipple or other parts of the breast
Nipple discharge that starts suddenly
New pain in one spot that doesn't go away

4. Make healthy lifestyle choices

Maintain a healthy weight
Add exercise into your routine
Limit alcohol intake
Limit postmenopausal hormone use
Breastfeed, if you can

The Etsy Angels Team is hosting our final fundraising BNR in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The BNR will be tomorrow, Thursday, October 20th at 5:00 PM Etsy time (Eastern) until 8:00 PM (possibly longer).

Here are the rules for this Fundraiser BNR, hosted by Etsy Angels Team:

* $4.00 minimum before shipping
* Call out in CAPS and wait for OK to shop (doesn't have to be item featured)
* Go shopping!
* Post transaction link(s) when finished (if purchasing more than one item, please list all transaction links as they will count as separate sales)
* Also post item that you would like to be featured as the replacement
* 2 spots per shop
* No carry overs (since this is a fundraising effort)

How it is a fundraiser:

Etsy Angel's THINK PINK October Fundraiser -part 2

So many of the Angel's lives have been touched by breast cancer. Mothers, sisters, cousins, Aunts, grandmothers, friends. Each October the Angel's raise funds for non profit organizations that not only help with researching breast cancer and looking for a cure, but groups that lend support to women with breast cancer.

Many groups help fund mammograms that some cannot afford. They help find Doctor's in their area's that are the best in their field. And what is sometimes most important they lend moral support. Some of these non profits have online support groups, sometimes you just need someone to talk to that has "been there, done that".

One search on Google turned up many, many organizations....here are just a few we found:

The Angel's "THINK PINK" October Fundraiser

It's October once again and the Etsy Angel's will be raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness. This years fundraiser will begin on October 1st and run through the end of the month. The highlight of our fundraising this year will be 2 BNR's (buy and replace). BNR's are a way for other Etsy Sellers to promote their items by making a purchase from someone in the Angel's Think Pink Treasuries. Once they purchase, one of THEIR items from their Etsy store, will replace the item bought. Their item will remain there until purchased by someone else....and it goes on and on.

The Angel's will have a BNR on October 6th and another on October 11th. Besides the 2 BNR's those participating Angel's will have a "Think Pink" section in their stores and will be donating a portion of their sales (all month long) to a Breast Cancer Awareness non-profit group. We are awaiting permission from a national organization, but, if we don't get that permission in time each Angel will be donating to a group within her own community.

Angel's August Charity A Success!

The Etsy Angels had a fundraiser for the non-profit support group "Love For Malacia Babies". This grass roots group, started by LeeAnna Olson, helps parents of children with Malacia. The Angels fundraiser ran from July 15-August 15. The total raised for LFMB was $236.00 which was sent to LeeAnna at the end of the fundraiser. The LFMB group helps children from birth on up and their families. They provide a parent support group through FaceBook and their website LFMB. Sometimes just information and speaking with other parents that are going through the same issues can be such a help for these parents.

LFMB was able to take the donation from the Etsy Angels and finish up sending the donated "nap nannies", from the Nap Nanny company, to the parents that needed them most. Nap Nannies are reclining baby seats. These seats are at an exact angle that helps these Malacia babies sleep better by helping keep their airways open. Many of the babies also have GERD and reflux and this angle also is great for them!

The donated Nap Nannies went to the following countries; Ontario Canada x2, Scotland UK x2, and Queensland Australia.

So, once again the Etsy Angel's pulled together to make a difference in someone's life, that's what we do! We'll be doing another charity event in October for Breast Cancer Awareness...stay tuned to see who it is and to take part!

Malacia is described as: "Airways carry air from the nose to the lungs. Some children are born with airways that are too soft. Free Valentine's Day printable cards!!!

So, if you are looking for DIY Valentine's Day cards, look no further! One of our Angels, aka Ashley from Ashley Nichole Designs came up with the cutest cards and great ideas on how to embellish them.

Not only are these fun to make, but they are sure to impress everyone who receives them. No previous experience necessary... give it a shot and let us know how it turns out!

Here is a list of the materials you will need:

Step 1: Download the pattern (Google Docs will come up. Go to file, download) After printing, use your metal ruler and your razor cutter and cut out the cards. Click on any of these images to make them bigger.

Step 2:

Fold the cards in half and press the fold with the bone folder to make a nice pressed crease.

Steps 3 & 4: Add your embellishments. Ashley suggests red crystals, glitter and ribbon.

Voila! You have just finished making your very own, one of a kind Valentine's Day cards!!!

January was a Fabulous month.....

The Etsy Angels had a fabulous month with fundraising for ORVAL, (Ouachita River Valley Animal League)

in Louisiana. The organization began in 1995 with the promise of trying to make the local shelter a better place by reducing the number of pets euthanized and by giving them resources and products to make the pets more comfortable during their limited time at the shelter!

We raised much needed funds...148 sales and $30.00 in cash donations for a total of $326.00 with a couple of donations not completed yet!!!

We are a small team but we do big things...Check out some of the great sales we made.

The Etsy Angels are a small team and we are looking for new members to join our little family! We are looking for fun loving, caring, supportive and giving people that want to become an "Angel".

One of the main requirements to the Etsy Angels Team is that you must be willing to donate to worthy charities that are picked by the Team. We raise funds 4 to 5 times a year.

We have a few members that have been with us from the start and some new members in the past few months.

Our January charity event is for ORVAL, (Ouachita River Valley Animal League) in Louisiana. Louisville Race for the Cure Fundaiser Totals!

The Etsy Angels spent the entire month of November raising money for the Louisville Race for the Cure. A total of $313.00 was raised and donated! The Angels worked very hard all month and are so proud of what they raised! A total of 140 sales!

The Komen Louisville Race for the Cure® is a celebration to honor survivors and a time to remember those who have lost the battle with breast cancer. It is a safe, fun-filled event with music, food and opportunities to learn more about breast cancer.

Monies raised for the Louisville chapter will go to help them with events such as the Race for the Cure® and the Pink Tie Ball. "The Louisville Affiliate has raised and granted millions to local breast health programs in our service area."

The Angels were honored and proud to be able to raise these funds for them. We thank the Louisville Race for the Cure for all the wonderful things they do to raise awareness and to support the people in their community that have fought breast cancer.

I come from a family of eight children, five girls and three boys. The five girls are the oldest, Susie was the middle girl with two older and two younger. Susie was 29 years old when she died from breast cancer that had metastasized in her lungs. The last image of my sister is of her in a hospital bed sitting Indian style, slumped over , face down in a pillow, the only way she could breathe, the accordion thing going up and down on the wall. The only way to know she was still breathing was the thingy going up and down. Susie never woke up, she just quietly slipped away. The thingy on the wall stopped. This was 30 years ago last February and I can still see the thingy on the wall.

Breast cancer took my parent’s daughter, my sister, my childrens’ aunt. This disease caused such devastation in her poor body, she could not survive. This disease caused such devastation in her poor body that parents had to bury their beloved daughter, sisters and brothers had to say good bye to their lifelong playmate and nieces and nephews had to ask Where did Aunt Susie go?

The pain Breast Cancer caused Susie ended when the thingy on the wall stopped. The pain Breast Cancer caused my family renewed itself when the thingy on the wall stopped. Some say this pain lessens over the years, that time heals all wounds, this is not the case. This pain caused by Breast Cancer never goes away, it does not heal. It may lessen, but one day, it just reaches up and smacks you in the face and the pain is so fresh again, it tears open any healing that has begun.

Breast Cancer cannot take the memories I have of my sister, I can still see my sister’s smile, hear her laugh, even hear her voice. I can remember the crazy things we did as kids and young adults. I can remember sharing the love of music. She is a part of me. She will always be loved, she will always be my sister, Susie is now my Angel."

Breast cancer has touched her life, her family and her friends. We need to find a cure before it touches any other lives. Etsy Angels October Fundraiser

During the entire month of October the Etsy Angels will be raising funds for the Louisville affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the cure® and their "Race for a Cure"®. The Angels charity fundraiser starts on October 1st and runs through October 31. Please join us by shopping at the participating Etsy Angel stores (to be announced October 1st) where a portion of every sale will be donated to the Louisville, Kentucky chapter.

WE RUN…WE DANCE…WE CELEBRATE…WE WILL FIND THE CURES

The Louisville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® was established in 1999 and serves eight counties: Jefferson, Spencer, Bullitt, Shelby, Hardin, and Oldham counties in Kentucky, and Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana. It is one of more than 125 U.S. and international affiliates sharing the vision of a world without breast cancer. The Komen Louisville Race for the Cure® is a celebration to honor survivors and a time to remember those who have lost the battle with breast cancer. It is a safe, fun-filled event with music, food and opportunities to learn more about breast cancer and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
